Sometimes I think I’m the only one who does this.
Then I remember, I am human and so are you.
Are you ever in a circumstance and then try to push it away?
Do you know what I mean?
Like, you just don’t want it, whatever it is.
It could be good or bad, even indifferent.
Picture this.
Things are going alright and then you find out yourself amid a circumstance that changes everything.
Initially, you are fine. It is what it is.
You know you must go through whatever it is.
Yet you don’t want to.
It could be a wedding you must attend for your third cousin, or a work function that totally screws up your plans.
Whatever it is, you have a resistance in you that you can feel.
Its telling you loud and very clearly “No.”
That’s the point when you are resisting life.
The situation is what is happening for you right now.
Yet you think, “How can I get out of it?”
So you begin to plot, plan, worry, and way over think the situation.
This gives you the illusion of control over the circumstance.
You aren’t even open to the possibility that you are meant to go or do whatever it is.
You cause all this stress and still end up having to go through it, majority of the time.
There is a better way to do things and with a few explanations I will share with you how.
Let the metaphors begin.
Let Your Cork Float
Yes I know you are asking, “what does that even mean?”
When you put a cork in water it floats, the material is buoyant.
If you hold it down, then it does what is opposite to its natural state.
Your attitude about life circumstances is just like holding that cork down.
Pretty harsh, I know… stick with me and let’s think about this for a second.
Naturally, we are joyful, happy and abundant beings.
And we might not remember so much; that’s how we were as babies and kids.
The thoughts that we create from our life experiences cause us to have a negative attitude towards life.
That negativity weighs us down and steals our natural state of being.
People don’t want to look at their current circumstance, if it’s not ideal, and believe that they could look at it differently.
I assure you that you can.
When you feel so badly about the way you are looking at your circumstance it’s because the soul part of you doesn’t feel the same.
That’s how you can tell that you can see things differently.
When we are happy, we are in alignment with who we really are.
When we are not happy, we are resisting life and in opposition to our true selves.
The key is to be open to life and what it presents to you.
We don’t have a choice, whatever happens… happens.
And, that’s just it, life happens to everyone.
In some form or another, we all experience less than desirable circumstances in life.
You don’t have to make shit up about what that means about you as a person.
That’s exactly what we do, and that is what causes us to hold the cork down.
When you surrender to what is, you let the cork float and you can find a better thought about your circumstance.
It’s your choice.
Just remember if you feel bad to check in and ask yourself how you can see it differently.
Not all circumstances are easy to look at differently, some will take a lot of work to see the slightest change.
Eventually, with practice you will start to live a life that is more joyful by being open.
Letting your cork float will also help you see how connected you are with everyone else on this planet.
The separation between you and me will no longer be, because you are continually choosing to be happy.
Let the Universe Deliver
When I go to a restaurant to eat, I place my order and patiently wait for my food to come.
Then I enjoy the company of whomever I am with.
I don’t check my phone every 5 seconds or look around to see where my food is.
I trust that after placing my order that the food will arrive as expected.
We all know that this isn’t always the case, sometimes the order is screwed up or the waitress goes on a 20-minute smoke break.
It’s during these times that we aren’t letting the universe deliver, again we are resisting life.
We begin the process of focusing on what we don’t want as a another way to maintain control.
That’s when we start to check our phones, look around the restaurant and complain about the service.
Abraham Hicks says, “Every subject is two subjects, what you want and the lack of it.”
When you focus on what you don’t want you prolong the universe from delivering it to you.
This is how the law of attraction works.
When we give our attention to what we don’t want it’s like saying “Yes, give me more of that.”
The moral of this story is that if you are open to life and what it’s giving you may still have things happen.
And again, as humans we don’t have an option to not have things happen.
Control is an illusion.
The only way to succeed is to go with the flow.
And the tricky part about it is, even when you resist, you will always end up where you are meant to be.
Therefore, you will always win at the game of life no matter if you resist or be open to it.
The difference is that you make so much more work on yourself when you resist.
When life is easy you are going with the flow, when it’s hard you are resisting.
Again, you get to make the choice.
Maybe this sounds like a lot of positive thinking woo-woo talk.
You will never know how well it works until you let your cork float, and if you are having trouble you can always reach out to me.
