
You want to know what’s actually really funny to me?
We tell each other to breathe when we’re upset or when we need to calm down. But we are always breathing (like you didn’t already know that).
Did you know that it is humanly impossible to suffocate yourself?
I say that to bring attention to breathing. It’s such a gentle way of being. You’re always present. You can’t take a breath ahead, and you can’t retake a breath you’ve already taken.
Sometimes we overwhelm ourselves with thoughts of the past or beliefs we attempt to predict of our future. Either way it creates a lot of tension in our body. When we feel pain we shove it back down rather than letting it out.
I’ve wasted too many of my days trying to be perfect. Recently I’ve been embracing my imperfections and letting out the pain rather than keeping it inside.
Now that is a breath of fresh air.
